Welcome! Here are some answers to questions I often hear. If yours isn’t here, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to help!

1. What kinds of issues do you help with?
I work with kids, teens, adults and professionals facing anxiety, trauma, depression, addiction, burnout and major life changes. If life feels heavy, overwhelming or just plain tricky, we’ll find a way forward together.

2. What kinds of therapy do you use?

I offer a variety of evidence-based therapies tailored to your unique needs, including:

  • Person-Centered Therapy: At the heart of what I do, this compassionate, client-led approach meets you where you are, with empathy and respect.

  • Trauma-Focused Therapies: Including EMDR and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which help process and heal from trauma in a safe, supportive way.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Practical skills for managing big emotions, reducing anxiety and improving relationships.

  • Therapies for Kids: Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) supports caregivers and young children to build stronger connections and positive behavior.

  • Adlerian Play Therapy helps children express feelings and build confidence through play.

Together, we’ll find the approach that feels right for you or your child, moving at your pace and focusing on what truly helps.

3. Do you offer telehealth sessions?
Yes! All therapy sessions are conducted online via secure, HIPAA-compliant video platforms so you can get support from wherever you feel most comfortable.

4. How does telehealth work?
Once you schedule an appointment, you’ll receive a secure link via email before your session. You can join the session on your computer, tablet or smartphone. All you need is a private space and a stable internet connection. For legal and safety reasons, you must be located within Iowa during the session. You should not be driving or operating machinery while attending therapy. I’m happy to guide you through any tech questions before we begin.

5. How do I schedule an appointment?
Easy! Click the Book Now button in the top right hand corner. You can also call 319-409-6854 or use the contact form on this website. We’ll set up an intake session to start your journey.

6. What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens! Just let me know at least 24 hours in advance. If it’s less than that, there’s a $100 late cancellation fee. No-shows are charged the full session fee of $200. These fees are charged to your card immediately after the missed or late-cancelled session to honor the time I’ve set aside for your care and planning.

7. Do you accept insurance?
I accept several insurance plans and also work with private pay and out-of-network clients. Private pay and out-of-network clients pay at the time of service and can submit claims for reimbursement if using insurance.

8. Why is therapy an investment in myself?
Therapy is more than just sessions, it’s dedicated time for you to understand yourself, build coping skills, heal old wounds and create a healthier future. Think of it as self-care with a side of expert guidance. While therapy does have a cost, many clients find it’s one of the most valuable investments they make for their mental and emotional well-being. Your growth and healing are worth it.

9. What should I expect during my first session?
Your intake session is a chance for us to get to know each other, discuss your goals and create a plan tailored to your needs. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask questions and get comfortable with the process.

10. What if I’m feeling crisis or emergency?
If you are in crisis or need immediate help, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. You can also reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988, or text HOME to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line. These services are available 24/7.
